How this site works, what affiliate links are, and why you can trust these guides
What are affiliate links?
An affiliate link is a special link that tells the bank you came from this page. If you sign up using that link, the bank pays me a commission for referring you.
The important part: The cost to you is exactly zero. You don't pay more for using my link. The bank pays me, not you.
Practical example:
If you open a Revolut account using my link, Revolut pays me a commission. You pay the same as if you had gone directly to Revolut.com. Zero difference for you.
You can go directly to the bank if you prefer. The guides are still useful either way.
Do all guides have affiliate links?
No. And that's important.
I include banks that don't pay me anything because they genuinely work for migrants without NIE. If I only recommended banks that pay me, I wouldn't be honest.
Banks with and without affiliate on this site:
WITH affiliate link: Revolut, Wise, N26
WITHOUT affiliate link: Openbank (coming soon), and others I'll add if they work better than those with affiliate
If a bank without affiliate works better than one with affiliate, I'll tell you clearly.
How do I maintain impartiality?
This is the most important question. Here's my commitment:
- I personally test each bank. I don't write guides based on secondhand information. I open (or attempt to open) each account myself.
- I tell the truth about what doesn't work. If Wise doesn't accept salary deposits, I say it clearly even though I have an affiliate with them.
- I include options without affiliate. If I find a bank without affiliate that works better, I recommend it.
- I verify every 48 hours. Banking requirements change. If something stops working, I update the guide that same day.
- If a bank stops accepting without NIE, I remove the guide. I won't keep outdated information just because they pay me.
Why can you trust these guides?
Because I have more to lose by lying than by telling the truth.
If I tell you Wise accepts salary when it doesn't, you lose trust, stop using the site, and I lose credibility. It makes no sense.
My goal is for these guides to actually work for you. If they work, you come back when you need something else. If they don't work, you never come back.
My commitment to you:
✓ I only recommend banks I've personally tested
✓ I clearly state what works and what doesn't
✓ I include options without affiliate if they're better
✓ I update guides every 48 hours
✓ If something stops working, I remove it that day
What if I don't want to use your links?
Absolutely nothing happens. The guides are still useful.
You can read all the information here and then go directly to the bank by typing their name in Google. You already have the information you need.
Using my link helps me keep the site updated, but it's completely optional.
Why do you make this site then?
Because when I arrived in Spain, a guide like this didn't exist. All sites said "you need NIE" and that's it. Nobody explained which banks actually accept passport only.
I tested more than 15 banks. Some rejected me. Others accepted me. I documented everything.
This site exists because it's the resource I wish I had found when I arrived.
Affiliate links allow me to dedicate time to keeping it updated. But the main reason is to help other migrants who are in the same situation I was in.
