What has happened

Paid AI services have filled the market with similarly named plans and prices that change often. These are the prices of the plans for individuals as of 17 October 2026. Google’s and Microsoft’s come from their official pages for Spain. ChatGPT’s page shows us no figures, so its prices come from Inteligencias, which checked it from Spain on 29 September. Claude and Perplexity only show us prices in dollars.

Plans for individuals only. The dollar prices (Claude and Perplexity) are not confirmed prices for Spain, so their place in the list is approximate. Perplexity only gives the annual-billing price; billed annually, Claude Pro also comes to $17. The three-figure ones (ChatGPT Pro, Claude Max and Google AI Ultra) are covered separately below.

Why it matters to you

Because each plan gives you different things for similar money, and what you need isn’t always more AI:

  • ChatGPT: going from free to Go means more messages and more files, with ads: since 24 August 2026, OpenAI may show them in Spain to people on the free or Go plans. From Go to Plus the kind of use changes: reasoning models, advanced research, more memory and context (how much text it takes into account at once), projects and scheduled tasks. Plus has no annual billing for individuals.
  • Claude: its page, as it appears to us, gives $20 a month in the United States or $17 if you pay for the year, and warns that this excludes tax. Its help page says that, where supported, it charges in your local currency. We have not been able to see the euro price.
  • Google: Plus, at €4.99, gives twice the usage of the free plan and 400 GB. Pro, at €21.99, gives four times the usage, 5 TB for Gmail, Drive and Photos, and YouTube Premium Lite. The storage can be shared with up to five other people.
  • Microsoft: Copilot comes inside Microsoft 365. Personal costs €10 a month or €99 a year, with 1 TB. Family costs €13 a month or €129 a year, for up to six people, but the AI is only for the account holder. Premium, with more Copilot usage, costs €22 a month or €219 a year.
  • Perplexity: designed for searching with sources. Its pricing page, as it appears to us, gives figures in dollars and only billed annually: $17 a month for Pro.

The expensive plans are a separate matter: ChatGPT Pro starts at €103 a month, according to Inteligencias; Claude Max, at $100; and Google AI Ultra, at €99.99, with a €219.99 tier for even heavier use.

And watch out for tax: the Claude page we see, in dollars, says its price excludes it, but its help page explains that in some countries the price shown already includes it and in others it is added at checkout. The other pages we could read don’t say either way.

What you can do

1. See whether the free plan really holds you back

If in a normal week it has hardly ever cut you off, don’t pay. The free plans of 2026 go a long way.

2. Decide whether you’re short of AI or of space

If your email is full and your photos have nowhere to go, a Google plan solves two problems with one payment. If you only want a better AI, you’d be paying for terabytes you won’t use.

3. Check the price inside your account

These prices are from 17 October 2026 and change without notice. Before paying, look at the one you get on the payment screen, tax included.

4. Note the renewal date

They are subscriptions and renew automatically. Put the day you sign up in your calendar and decide deliberately whether it’s still worth it, instead of finding out a year later on your bank statement.

The recommendation

If the free plan doesn’t hold you back, don’t pay. If you’re short of space as well as AI, start by looking at Google: AI Plus already includes 400 GB for €4.99. If you only want a better AI, compare ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro on your own tasks before choosing.

To decide whether paying is worth it, see which AI is worth paying for. To find out which suits your needs best, the comparison of ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. And before paying for one, be clear about what information you won’t give it.
